Professor Dr. Syed Shamsuddin Ahmed is an accomplished surgeon with nearly four decades of experience. He was a former professor at Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s Burn and Plastic Surgery department. Mr. Ahmed received his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, which is part of Dhaka University. He graduated from Nagasaki University in Japan with a doctorate in plastic and reconstructive surgery and worked as the director of microsurgery research at Yale University in the United States. He has published over 40 original scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals around the world.

Professor Ahmed and his team operate on children with cleft palates at LMRF Children’s Hospital (LMRFCH), a small children’s hospital in Chittagong’s Lion Foundation Complex. Professor Ahmed also arranges surgeries at Mymensingh’s Liberty Hospital, Lalmonirhat’s New Baishakhi Hospital, Dhaka’s America Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, and Rajshahi’s General Hospital.

Professor Ahmed conducts over 400 surgeries each year, and his team has operated on over 13,000 cleft patients over the course of his career.
