Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment that uses a drug, called a photosensitizer or photosensitizing agent, and a particular type of light. When photosensitizers are exposed to a specific wavelength of light, they produce a form of oxygen that kills nearby cells.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) uses a medication such as Levulan to make your skin more sensitive to light, and then exposes you to Blu-U or LED light. PDT helps to increase cell turnover and stimulate the production of collagen to treat acne.

In general, you will need three to four treatments spread three to four weeks apart. Typically you’ll need treatment every three to six months to maintain results.
